Spring has found its way to Bowdoinham. Its early, but my distaste for winter has me relishing its return. The crocus are up in the yard and the cat is back to her usual outdoor antics.
I found the first wildflower, Coltsfoot, blooming on the side of the road. But more importantly, the garlic has also begun to wake up!
Just as I expected, the garlic in the black mulch, and more specifically, the south side of the bed is the first to rise. With the mild winter and the erratic temperature swings there was some heaving but its always encouraging to see the ever persistent green poke out of the soil. Im anticipating an earlier harvest this season. Only time will tell...hard to know what to expect these days.
